There are several ways to deposit money into your account.
First, log in to your account using the “Login” option at the top of this page. Open in a new page to keep these instructions open.
From the Main Menu, click FUNDING, followed by FUND TRANSFERS
This will open a new page. Under “Transaction Type,” select DEPOSIT.
Under “Method,” you will see several deposit methods.
On this page, you will enter the DEPOSIT AMOUNT, along with banking information. The banking information can be saved for future deposits.
Once this information is complete, instructions for submitting your deposit will appear. This will include the address to send your check – it is faster to send you check directly to Interactive Brokers than Bluefin. Please print this deposit notification and include it when sending your check.
Checks must be made out to Interactive Brokers. Be sure to write your account number on the check.
Once Interactive Brokers receives your check, the funds will be credited to your account after a seven business day credit hold, with the exception of Bank Checks, which are credited immediately. This means it can take 8-10 days in total for the deposit to appear in your account.
There are two types of ACH Transfers:
ACH Initiated By Us – This is the most common type of ACH transfer.
It is like a wire transfer, but it takes several days as opposed to the
instantaneous wire. Deposits are free at Interactive Brokers, but there
may be a small fee for withdrawal at your bank – though this is rare.
Interactive Brokers also offers one free outgoing transfer per month.
With your first ‘ACH Initiated By Us,’ Interactive Brokers will use two steps to verify your bank account. One will be a confirmation number sent to your email. The second will be a series of small debits and credits to your bank account. Record the amounts and enter them when prompted by Interactive Brokers. Once established, this transfer method can be used for future deposit and withdrawal requests.
Please note that it can take up to four days for the funds to arrive in your account, which will be followed by a four business day hold for regulatory purposes.
The deposit usually arrives immediately but can take up to four days, depending on the bank. The deposit will be credited to your account immediately with no hold.
There are several ways to withdraw money from your account.
First, log in to your account using the “Login” option at the top of this page. Open in a new page to keep these instructions open.
From the Main Menu, click FUNDING, followed by FUND TRANSFERS
This will open a new page. Under “Transaction Type,” select WITHDRAWAL.
Here you will make a withdrawal request. Interactive Brokers allows one free withdrawal request every month. After the first withdrawal (of any kind), fees will be charged for any subsequent withdrawal. There are also limits to the amount that can be withdrawn on a daily or weekly basis. Those amounts can be found HERE .
This is like a wire transfer in that funds are moved to account electronically.
For your first ACH Transfer, you must enter your bank account information. Interactive Brokers will use two steps to verify your bank account. One will be a confirmation number sent to your email – this can take up to three days to appear. The second will be a series of small debits and credits to your bank account. Record the amounts and enter them when prompted by Interactive Brokers. Once established, this transfer method can be used for future deposit and withdrawal requests.
If this is not your first ACH Transfer, you can use saved bank account information and immediately make the withdrawal request.
Please note that it can take up to four days for the funds to arrive in your account.
For your first Wire, you must enter your bank account information. Once established, this transfer method can be used for future deposit and withdrawal requests.
If this is not your first Wire, you can use saved bank account information and immediately make the withdrawal request.
After submitting your withdrawal request, an email will be sent to your email address on record to verify the transaction. Enter the confirmation data sent to you to complete the request.
ACTIVATE YOUR SECURITY DEVICE
The security device you receive with your new account must be activated. To do so, go to: Manage Account --> Security --> Secure Login System --> Security Device. There, you will be presented with an activation link with instructions for completing the activation online.
MONTHLY ACCOUNT STATEMENTS
Bluefin Investment will email your monthly investment statements in a password- protected pdf file. However, you can also receive your statement directly from our custodian, Interactive Brokers, if you prefer. To do so, follow the instructions below.
1. Log in to your account
2. Click Reports > Settings > Delivery > Activity Statements and Trade Reports
3. The ‘Delivery Settings for Activity Statements and Trade Reports’ section has three options:
• Daily Activity Statement: This report includes the account value, trades, and individual positions. It is created on a daily basis and can be overwhelming, so we do not recommend this option.
• Monthly Activity Statement: This report includes the same information as the Daily Statement, but is created on a monthly basis. This is your monthly statement and we recommend the email notification with attachment for this option.
• Daily Trade Report: This report provides confirmations of trades and other daily in- and out-flows. These reports are disabled by default.
For taxable accounts, annual tax forms (Schedule D, 1099, 5498, etc.) must be downloaded electronically (Interactive Brokers does not mail them to you). When logged in to your account, click Reports > Tax > Tax Forms to generate your tax forms.
